Design ConsiderationI took time to analyze the design and form of the original hard drive. I wanted to make sure to capture the unique surfaces and materials of the device in a way that would translate practically.
I also looked at many outdoor lanterns on the market to find key features to include in my design. I knew I needed to include key features like a handle and a simple control interface. Additionally, the color of the lantern needed to match the iconic orange that is on the original hard drive.Coleman Keroesene LanternLaCie Rugged LanternCOAST EAL22
Target Audience
The LaCie Rugged Lantern is made for outdoor explorers and campers alike. When designing the lantern, I knew it was important to maintain the same values of the iconic hard drive. It needed to look tough, but fun at the same time, just like the source material.
At its core, the lantern is made for individuals who need light during their night time adventures.
