SFSU Encampment - 2024In April of 2024, students and faculty at San Francisco State University (SFSU) rallied in the Malcolm X Plaza area of the school in a display of solidarity with the Palestinian people. By the end of rally, students set up an encampment in the grassy area of the quad, joining many other student groups across the country who had done the same.

A list of demands was set up at the center of the encampment. In short, the protesting group wanted SFSU to divest from any companies that support the Israeli military, sever ties with any Israeli academic institutions, and publicly recognize Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide.
